The OB-1620 is a 6-inch deep alternating-pressure mattress designed to help protect the skin and prevent bedsores for individuals who spend extended periods in bed. Its single air layer inflates and deflates in cycles to shift pressure gently across the body, improving comfort, circulation, and skin health. The mattress also includes 7-inch-high side bolsters that act as soft protective barriers to help reduce the risk of rolling out of bed. A simple, intuitive control panel makes it easy for caregivers to adjust air pressure, choose operating modes, and monitor alerts. The alternating-pressure system redistributes weight to reduce irritation, protect the skin, and lessen the likelihood of pressure ulcers.

Multiple Rotation Angles (15°/25°)

The OB-1620 offers several rotation options—15-degree left turns, 25-degree left turns, 25-degree right turns, and a 25-degree automatic rotation mode—to meet a wide range of patient needs. These controlled rotation angles help increase movement while the patient is in bed, assist lung function by helping move phlegm, reduce the risk of pulmonary infections, and support better physical therapy outcomes. This feature is especially valuable for patients who cannot turn or reposition themselves independently.

15° Self-lateral Rotation

The mattress also provides a gentle 15-degree self-lateral rotation using specialized air cells that inflate and deflate in a soft, wave-like pattern. This quiet motion redistributes weight, relieves pressure points, improves sleep, stimulates circulation, and helps prevent the development of bedsores—particularly for those who cannot comfortably turn on their own. 

Patient-Centered Safety Design

For added safety, the OB-1620 includes a sinking feature that lowers the mattress surface by up to four inches, creating a 4-inch deep soft boundary that helps keep the patient safely centered. This design stabilizes the patient during alternating pressure cycles and during 15–25° rotations, helping prevent drifting or sliding while still giving caregivers easy access for repositioning, cleaning, and daily care.

Comfort-Focused True Low Air Loss (LAL) Therapy

Located beneath the top cover, the Comfort-Focused Low Air Loss (LAL) system delivers 15 liters of airflow per minute through a built-in fan. This steady airflow helps remove moisture and regulate heat and humidity around the patient’s skin, maintaining a cool, dry, and comfortable surface. This is especially important for individuals with Stage 1–4 pressure ulcers or those who are at higher risk of skin breakdown. By maintaining a healthy microclimate, the LAL system supports both comfort and essential skin protection.

Patented “Easy Go” Bedpan Function (Manual)

The patented Easy Go bedpan feature allows caregivers to press a single button to quickly deflate four air cells beneath the buttocks, creating a recessed opening for a bedpan in about 20 seconds. This makes in-bed toileting safer, more hygienic, and far more comfortable for the patient while reducing the physical strain placed on caregivers during transfers. It is particularly helpful for bedridden patients who require frequent toileting support.

Fowler & Seating

When the head of the bed is elevated, the Fowler and seating function adds extra support under the seat and torso to help prevent the patient from sliding downward. This design reduces the risk of bottoming out, maintains proper body alignment, and helps protect against pressure injuries while the patient is sitting up—for eating, reading, visiting with family, or enjoying other activities in bed.
