The OB-1680 StandardAir Mattress is designed to help protect the skin and prevent bedsores for individuals who spend long periods of time in bed. Its alternating air pockets gently inflate and deflate in a repeating cycle, redistributing body weight to reduce continuous pressure on areas like the back, hips, and heels. This movement helps maintain healthier blood flow, reduces irritation, and supports overall comfort and skin integrity.

Multiple Rotation Angles (15°/25°/40°):

This mattress provides several rotation options—15° left, 25° left, 25° right, 25° automatic rotation, and 40° left turn—to support different patient needs. These controlled turning angles help increase patient activity in bed, support lung function by helping move phlegm, reduce the risk of pulmonary infections, and improve physical therapy outcomes. This turning assistance is especially valuable for patients who cannot shift their weight independently.

15° Self-lateral Rotation:

The OB-1680 also provides a gentle 15-degree self-lateral rotation by automatically inflating and deflating specific air cells in a wave-like motion. This quiet, continuous shifting of pressure helps improve sleep quality, reduce pressure points, promote circulation, and further protect the skin from developing bedsores—especially for individuals who are unable to turn themselves. 

Patented Inflatable Air-Filled Guardrails

The patented inflatable guardrails offer a soft and comfortable alternative to metal side rails while still providing important safety support. They inflate or deflate with a single button and include a mid-section opening to make getting in and out of bed easier and safer. These guardrails help prevent falls without the bruising or injury that can occur with hard metal rails, making them ideal for both home care and long-term care settings.

Patented “Easy Go” Bedpan Function

This mattress includes a patented bedpan feature that allows caregivers to press a single button to deflate four air cells under the buttocks in just 20 seconds. This creates a comfortable recessed opening for a bedpan, making in-bed toileting far easier and reducing the physical strain on caregivers. The design improves patient comfort, safety, and hygiene by minimizing movement during toileting care.

Patented “Easy Go” Shampoo Function

The patented one-touch shampoo function gently deflates the head section of the mattress to create a recessed area for a shampoo basin, also within about 20 seconds. This allows caregivers to wash the patient’s hair directly in bed without excessive repositioning. It improves comfort, reduces unnecessary movement, and makes hygiene care easier for both the patient and caregiver.

Patient-Centered Safety Design

The mattress includes a sinking function that allows the surface to lower up to four inches while still keeping the patented four-inch guardrails in place. This creates an eight-inch deep soft protective boundary that helps keep the patient centered and secure during alternating pressure cycles and rotations—even during rotations up to 40 degrees. This feature is especially important for individuals with Stage 1 through Stage 4 pressure ulcers or those at high risk of skin breakdown.

Fowler & Seating

The mattress also includes Fowler and seating support, which adds firmness under the torso and seat when the head of the bed is elevated. This helps prevent sliding or bottoming out and reduces pressure injuries when the patient is in a sitting position.
